Join Chapter coordinator Trisha Robertson for our annual Opt Outside hike – returning this year to Manassas National Battlefield Park. This easy-moderate hike features two options: a 5.4-mile or 12-mile loop. To begin,
we will follow the First Manassas Trail, starting at the Visitors Center parking lot, hiking counter-clockwise, passing several historic landmarks (~2.5 hours). After the first loop, we will take a bathroom/snack/pack-demo break back at the Visitors Center. Then those who would like to continue will follow the Second Manassas Trail for an additional 6.6 miles.
Both loops are mostly level, well-groomed trails. Trail shoes are fine. Bring hiking poles if you want the practice. This is a great hike to test your Camino pack. Restrooms are available at the Henry Hill Visitor Center. Free park entry and parking. No pets, please.
Après-Hike, consider joining us at The Winery at Bull Run nearby at 15950 Lee Highway, Centreville, 20120. Bring your own picnic, or enjoy the Winery’s wine, non-alcoholic beverages, snacks, and pizza.
Meeting Point: Manassas National Battlefield Park, Henry Hill Visitor Center. 6511 Sudley Road, Manassas, VA 20109. Parking lot toward the far east edge, past the building, near the canons. Look for our Camino Flag.
