Buen Camino Greetings

Buen Camino Greetings
by Robert Bain | Houston, TX
Song lyrics written to the tune of “California Dreamin’” by The Mamas & The Papas. YouTube audio of the 1965 folk song here.
Visiting a church to start my day
Flashes of home life as I kneel to pray
A five hour walk to the albergue
Buen Camino greetings pilgrims pass my way
Met Carlos Susie and Francine
All from countries I haven’t seen
Enjoy café con leche with new friends
Walk along the Way not wanting it to end
Early start no one in sight
From deep within old feelings rise
Camino begins at the end of The Way
Filled with adventure on this spiritual day
Breathtaking photos at the cathedral
Hug smiles tears on reaching Santiago
Recover with a glass of wine or two
Think of next camino and what not to do
Buen Camino greetings, pilgrims on their way
Until next time may arrows guide each day
Buen Camino friends with their stories to tell
Carry the spirit I know so well
Buen Camino greetings to all that
Pass my way
Buen Camino greetings to all that
Pass my way (fade)
