In Memoriam: José María Valadés Castillo

José Ramón Barranco in October 2008, during the celebration of the VIII Congress

Luis Gtiérrez Perrino, President of the Spanish Federation of Associations of Friends of the Camino de Santiago, shared with American Pilgrims that José Ramón Barranco passed away on February 27. He was 92 years old.

José Ramón Barranco, Perrino notes, has played a significant role in the Spanish Federation for many years. A member of the Federation’s Board of Directors, he was also made an honorary member of many Associations, including the Zaragoza and Soria Associations. Today he is remembered, in Perrino’s words, as “Hombre de un talante campechano,” a man of a hearty spirit, who was a friend to all. As Perrino notes,  “Amante del Camino de Santiago deja una huella importante a todos nosotros” . . . “this lover of the Camino de Santiago leaves an important mark on all of us.”
