MEETING LOCATION: Remick Music Shell Parking Lot (see map). Enter Belle Isle from the McArthur Bridge, onto Sunset Drive, then quickly bear left onto Casino Way. Take a right turn at the second street, Muse Road, which then dog legs left becoming Loiter Way. Almost immediately on the right is the Remick Music Shell and Parking Lot where we will gather.
Detroit, Michigan is in the Eastern Time Zone.
This hike offers access to a true diamond, historic Belle Isle, nestled between the Cities of Detroit and Windsor, Ontario. Our hike will take in the beautiful Detroit skyline, as well as the elegant Windsor shoreline; the busy river traffic; and the many important exhibits, museums and landmarks on the Island.

Driving Directions: Traveling on US-23, take Exit 54B to westbound M-36 (9 Mile Road). Follow M-36 for 5 miles as it snakes north and west, turning right (north) onto Chilson Road just after you pass the Kroger. Continue the north and west snaking on Chilson and look for the Bishop Lake Road entrance to the Brighton Recreation Area on your right after 3.75 miles. Follow the signs to the Bishop Lake Complex about 1.4 miles down this road on the right (south). Turn right again to reach the large parking lot and trailhead.
In summary, drive to the Trailhead Parking Lot off Bishop Lake Road, east of Chilson Road and West of Teahen Road. See Brighton State Recreation map. We will meet at the picnic shelter near the parking lot which is also near rest rooms.
NOTE: Vehicles need a State of Michigan Recreation Passport or purchase a day pass at the park entrance.

Milford Public Library, 330 Family Dr. in Milford, MICHIGAN
From I-96, take the Milford Road exit and go North, turning right at the T-intersection near the McDonald's onto General Motors Road. Then left at the next light on South Hill Street, which shortly becomes North Main in downtown Milford. After passing underneath a train bridge, turn left at Commerce Road and head West, passing underneath another train bridge. Look for the YMCA sign on your left. Family Drive Road leads to the Milford library and YMCA. will be on your left.
Park at the library's second parking lot entrance, which is just beyond the library building.
From M-59, take Milford Road south (which becomes Main Street in Downtown Milford) to Commerce Road, which is the traffic light after passing the Kroger store in the shopping center. At the Milford / Commerce Road intersection, turn right and head West, passing underneath a train bridge. The Family Drive Road to Milford library and YMCA will be on your left.

TRAIL: The Milford Trail - a flat paved trail in the Village of Milford. The winding trail offers scenery as it travels through woodlands and wetlands.
LENGTH: 3-mile Hike This trail starts near the Milford Library, we’ll walk 1.5 miles to the McDonald’s and retrace our steps. If we have more ambitious hikers we can walk a longer distance.
