A twelve-mile (approximately six hour with breaks) hike on the American Tobacco Trail in Wake County.
A beautiful, scenic, almost completely flat, not heavily traveled, and mostly shaded out-and-back walk along an abandoned railroad track (packed sand surface) through Jordan Lake game lands with opportunities to see wildlife and chat with chapter pilgrims.
Join us even if you don’t have the time or don’t want to walk the whole 12 miles. This is an out-and-back hike so you can turn around and get back to the starting point anytime to make it only 4 or 5 miles, 6 or 7 miles, or whatever. Just let the hike leader or sweep know you’re heading back. There are water and restroom facilities at the starting and ending points and three water/rest/lunch stops at miles 4.0, 6.5, and 9.5
Feel free to bring friends or family members. Bring water, snacks, and dress for the weather as we will hike rain or shine.
