About the hike: This is a hike for experienced hikers. The elevation gain will prepare you for the climbs on the Camino Frances, Primitivo and Norte but the terrain will be rockier than anything you will experience so only join this hike if you enjoy and are used to a challenging hikes like this.
We will begin at the very last parking lot on Piesteway Peak Drive (where it dead ends). The trail used to be called the Circumference Trail since we loop up and over to the back side of the mountain and then walk around the north side before descending the westernsaddle on the steps where others would climb to the peak. This counter-clockwise hike involves both saddles and views from both sides of Piestewa Peak. The trail includes loose rocky sections as well as stairs while gaining and losing elevation. Poles are highly recommended.
Carefully review the description on Alltrails to see if this hike is for you or contact your hike leader.
If there is interest in breakfast burritos after the hike, we can go to Los Taquitos on 16th St for conversation without the sweat and exertion.
