EVENT DESCRIPTION
Let’s hike the Mooner’s Hollow Trail at St. Francois State Park and meet for lunch afterward at Frankie Gionino’s.
Mooner’s Hollow is a scenic, 3-mile hiking trail located in St. Francois State Park in Bonne Terre, MO. Roughly an hour drive south of Chesterfield, this loop trail features a cascading waterfall, clear creek crossings, and unique rock glades.
The hollow is named after the moonshiners (illegal liquor makers) who used the area during the past. The deep valleys, isolation, and cold, clear springs of Coonville Creek made it the perfect hidden spot for their illegal stills.
