Phoenix, AZ: Valley of the Sun Chapter, Tres Rios Wetlands Walk

MEET: We will meet at Tres Rios trailhead on 91st Ave, 1 mile South of Broadway on the west side of the road. The parking lot is small so carpool as much as possible. Park on either side of the driveway to avoid blocking the gate. Ann has procured the permit for our group. DIRECTIONS: Tres Rios is 16 miles SW of central Phoenix. Go West on I-10 to 91st Ave Exit. Drive south for 5 miles to Broadway Road and continue south for another mile to a small paved driveway on the right side of the road. Park on either side of the driveway to avoid blocking the gate.

Blevins Trailhead in Usery Mountain Regional Park (3939 E Usery Pass Rd, Mesa). Directions: Enter the Usery Mountain Regional Park (3939 E Usery Pass Rd, Mesa) entrance and show your Maricopa County Park Pass or pay $7 fee. You can ask the ranger for a map & directions or continue straight on Usery Park Rd to Blevins Trail Rd for 1.5 miles. You will pass a restroom on the left side and then see a large unpaved parking lot beyond it. Park there!

The Hunter’s Full Moon will rise at 6:13PM so we will begin our walk at dusk to gradually adjust to visibility. The leisurely hike will include the Blevins and Moon Rock (of course) Trails. Scottsdale, AZ: Valley of the Sun Chapter, Lost Dog Hike

Lost Dog Trail – Scottsdale Sonoran Preserve; 12601 N 124th Street, Scottsdale. Directions: From Shea Boulevard, turn north on 124th Street. The Trail Head parking lot is approx. 1 mile north of Shea, just beyond Anasazi Elementary School. Meet at the Lost Dog Trailhead at 6:20 am (at the Ramada). Since it may be hot, we will begin promptly at 6:30 am, and the hike should take approximately 2-2.5 hours.

Lost Dog Trail is a 4.2 mile out and back trail located in the Scottsdale Sonoran Preserve. The halfway point is the Taliesin Overlook, with a view of Taliesin West, the one-time winter home of Frank Lloyd Wright and current headquarters of the FLW Foundation.
