The Jacksonville Chapter of American Pilgrims covers the general area of Northern Florida.

Broadly stated, the purpose of this local chapter is to keep participants connected to the Camino and to introduce new people to the phenomenon. We plan to accomplish this in a number of ways, such as social events, hikes, mentoring future pilgrims and serving as a local host for hospitalero training through American Pilgrims.

Contact chapter coordinators Susan Peacock, Janet Solomon Calhoun, Dawn Emerick and Pamela Eutsler at Jacksonville@americanpilgrims.org for more information or to be added to the chapter email list.

Ongoing Events

One of the purposes of American Pilgrims chapters is to encourage training for the actual Camino. Our North Florida is blessed with many places to walk anytime, year round.

The Jacksonville chapter has instituted a walking program titled "Second Sunday Strolls". Not only are they great training for the Camino, but they also provide a very informal environment for pilgrims-to-be to chat with experienced pilgrims about their experiences on their Camino. For each walk, we have asked for volunteers to lead the walk and plot the course. This helps us obtain diversity in the type, length and geography of the walk. The walks usually are capped off with a little picnic or a selected bistro (dutch treat). Email us for more information.

Are you interested in learning more about the Camino?

Consider joining the American Pilgrims on the Camino Facebook group for great dialogue, Q&A, photos, and a running commentary about the Camino from like-minded pilgrims.

Mentor Program

If you are thinking of walking the Camino and are interested in learning more, we can pair you with an experienced pilgrim who can answer your questions on how to prepare and what to expect. Just email us and ask to be connected with a mentor.
