Get your gear questions answered! If you have walked a Camino, please bring an item to share. This can be an essential item that you couldn’t be without, or an item that you brought that you would never carry again! Newbies come with your questions!
We will begin with introductions and the Gear Talk. The hike will follow and be about 6.2 miles on gravel, dirt and mowed meadow surfaces. The first 2.4 miles will be an easier walk on mostly wide gravel trails. At this point, those who prefer a shorter walk can return to Whispering Oaks parking lot by walking about 1/3 mile on the same path we began our hike. The hike will continue on gravel, dirt and meadow trails.
Overall, the challenge will be moderate considering that some trails have protruding tree roots and uneven ground in various locations. Trails vary from partially shaded to shaded to open meadow. Pit toilets and portable toilets are available throughout the park. There should be ample free parking.
There are NOT any water fountains in this park. PLEASE BRING SUFFICIENT WATER for yourself! You will likely want to bring some sun protection as well.
We will finish by enjoying a picnic lunch in the Whispering Oak Oaks Picnic Area. Lunch is not provided, so be sure to pack your own picnic lunch.
