Our Hike and then Optional Lunch: Highland Lake Rec Area hike on a the 4.8-mile loop marked as the Blue Trail that encircles Haven Hill Lake. Please allow about 1-1/2 to 2 hours to hike the trail. It is recommended that you bring bug spray.

A Michigan State Park Passport is required to enter Highland Lake State Recreation. You can purchase day entrance passes at the Park Entrance.
Meet at Parking Near Trailhead at the Circle Parking Lot / Edsel Ford’s Barn: Located about 1.4 miles south of the park entrance off M-59, this primary trailhead gives access to the Red, Blue, and Green hiking loops as well as the historic Haven Hill route.

Bathrooms at Highland State Recreation Area in Michigan are primarily limited to vault toilets located near trailheads, picnic areas, and rustic campgrounds.
