Follow one-way drive around (and over speed bumps) and past the Hole in the Rock lot where it circles back around. TAKE THE FIRST DRIVE TO THE RIGHT AFTER the Hole in the Rock parking lot. Meet: 4:45 PM at Blevins Trailhead in Usery Mountain Regional Park (3939 E Usery Pass Rd, Mesa). Directions: Enter the Usery Mountain Regional Park (3939 E Usery Pass Rd, Mesa) entrance and show your Maricopa County Park Pass or pay $7 fee. You can ask the ranger for a map & directions or continue straight on Usery Park Rd to Blevins Trail Rd for 1.5 miles. You will pass a restroom on the left side and then see a large unpaved parking lot beyond it. Park there!

The Hunter’s Full Moon will rise at 5:39PM so we will begin our walk at dusk to gradually adjust to visibility. The leisurely hike will include the Blevins and Moon Rock (of course) Trails. Celebrate the turn in the weather by exploring this corner of the beautiful Scottsdale McDowell Sonoran Preserve, with two hike options (3 or 8 miles) to choose from depending on your mood or training goals. Meet: Tom's Thumb Trailhead (12943 E Paraiso Dr, Scottsdale). Directions: From 101 take Pima Rd 4.7 miles North to East Happy Valley Road. Turn right onto East Happy Valley Road and drive 4.3 miles to Ranch Gate Road. Turn right onto Ranch Gate Road and travel 1.3 miles and then turn right onto North 128th Street. After 1.0 mile on North 128th Street, you'll be at the trailhead gate. There is construction in the area so use your gps for current detours.

This scenic hike will start at Tom’s Thumb Trailhead and walk through an area of an ancient landslide (no surprise). 500,000 years ago, a rock avalanche of granite, vegetation, and soil flowed to the present-day area known as the Marcus Landslide. Lost Dog Trailhead, 12601 N 124th Street, Scottsdale, AZ. Directions: From Shea Boulevard, turn north on 124th Street. The Trail Head parking lot is approx. 1 mile north of Shea, just beyond Anasazi Elementary School. Meet at the Lost Dog Trailhead at 6:45 am (at the Ramada). Since it may be hot, we will begin promptly at 7:00 am, and the hike should take approximately 2-2.5 hours.

Lost Dog Trail is a 4.2 mile out and back trail located in the Scottsdale Sonoran Preserve.
