Wilmington DE: Philadelphia Chapter, 7.5-mile walk

Please join us for a walk to Wilmington!

We will gather at the parking lot next to the ‘Can Do’ playground located off Weldin Road in Wilmington DE. Please note that this is part of Brandywine Creek State Park and a parking fee is assessed.

Starting in the parking lot, we will walk through some fields and pass under route 202 before entering into the Alapocas Woods. In the woods, we will descend about 300 feet down to the Brandywine River. Once at the river we will walk downstream to Wilmington where we will stop at the Chancery Market Food Hall for lunch.

After lunch we will walk upstream on the opposite side of the river past canals and tow paths. We will briefly walk up into the ‘Highlands Neighborhood’ before again crossing the river and again walk through the Alapocos woods to our starting point.

The entire walk is 7.5 miles, all surfaces are paved. There are bathrooms at the beginning of the walk, at lunch, and at least one porta potty by the river.

As per American Pilgrims on the Camino regulations, our walks are dog-free. Please bring plenty of water and sunscreen!
