Why is the scallop shell important to pilgrims? Join us and find out. The Southeast Michigan Chapter of the American Pilgrims Association is holding a “Shell Ceremony and Pilgrim Blessing” for pilgrims leaving this year experiencing their first pilgrimage. We encourage everyone to attend.

The morning will start in the Hamburg Township Library at 10:00 AM in Room A. From there we will take a short walk on the Lakeland Trail for an hour and return for coffee, hot cocoa, and of course Tarte de Santiago. We will then answer the question, “Why is the scallop shell important to pilgrims?” and finish with the Shell Ceremony and Pilgrim Blessing.

If you wish to receive your shell for those of you making your first Camino, please respond to us at our email address (link below) with your name and when you plan to leave for your Camino so we can include you in the Shell Ceremony. It is important that you RSVP to us, so we have enough shells. Have a guest or two? Bring them along, just let us know.
