Easy ~3 mile hike in the beautiful Scottsdale Sonoran Preserve to see a rare crested cactus. (Elevation gain minimal)
Have you seen a crested cactus? This is the perfect opportunity to see one and to include your out of town guests on an easy hike in beautiful weather. The trails (Latigo and Sidewinder) are mostly sand and fine granite so any comfortable walking shoes will work. In addition to stopping to see the crested cactus, we will do a short climb to a scenic overlook and then walk back to the parking lot past Baby Balanced Rock. This spring we will take a longer trek (9 miles) to another gorgeous crested cactus in this preserve.
Bring: Water, hat, sunscreen, your own first aid kit and snacks.
Please stay home if you are feeling sick. Call or text your hike leader (Tina 602-722-0612) if you are unable to make it or are running late.
There is no water at the trailhead so bring your own.
