Details: 8 kilometers (Camino Prep!! around 5 miles), moderate hike. From the Hunter Road Trailhead, we’ll walk mostly on the Dante and Beatrice trails. About halfway through the hike, we’ll take a break at “The Grotto,” a cool geological feature off the trail. From there, we’ll complete the loop back to where we started. The walk is a good mixture of cinder paths and dirt trails. There are some rocks and roots on the dirt trails, so if you normally use trekking poles, be sure to bring them.
There is limited parking at the Trailhead, so early arrival is recommended. If there are no spots available, there are parking lots up the hill on Hunter and across Hunter.
Restrooms are limited, there is a “pit toilet” at the Trailhead.
Since it’s springtime and we’ll hopefully had lots of rain, it would be a good idea to bring Insect Repellent.
Remember all your stuff: water, snacks, sunscreen, hat, personal first aid kit, trekking poles– all the normal things you usually take on a hike.
Legal Stuff: Per American Pilgrims, dogs and other animals are not permitted.
