San Marcos, CA: San Diego Chapter, San Elijo Hills Hike

Happy New Year! Join your fellow pilgrim friends in the San Elijo Hills area of San Marcos for a 6-mile moderate hike followed by optional lunch at SETS Kitchen & Bar.

Date: Saturday, February 4, 2023, 8:30am to 12:30pm

Parking and meeting point: There is a parking lot at SETS (1628 San Elijo Road, next to Starbucks). You may also park 0.3 miles away at the trailhead (1601 San Elijo Road), where there are about 20 spots along the road.

Meet time in the parking lot by Starbucks: 8:30am

Hike begins: 8:45am

Route description: The route begins off San Elijo Road near the site of the old San Marcos Landfill. From there, we’ll follow the natural Copper Creek Trail that is part of the Rancho La Costa Habitat Conservation Area. There is one section with a steady, moderate incline (then similar descent) – giving you a good opportunity to practice with walking poles if you have them.
