Poplar Creek Red Trail – Hoffman Estates, ILL Chicago Chapter, August Hike

Join Us for the August Poplar Creek RedTrail Hike! It will be held in Barrington Pond Parking Lot (Poplar Creek Red Trail, Janura Preserve, Hoffman Estates, IL). We will meet at 9:45 AM Central Time and start our hike at 10: AM Central Time.

Our Host Dr K (cell 847 497 0380) will lead our hike and describe the best of this beautiful preserve with restored prairies, tranquil ponds, and lush woodlands. This trail is a hidden gem in the NW suburbs, offering a rare blend of natural beauty and fascinating history. Once farmland, the area was transformed into a thriving preserve thanks to decades of restoration work by dedicated volunteers and organizations like the Poplar Creek Prairie Stewards. Today, it’s home to rare plant species, diverse wildlife, and peaceful landscapes—a true retreat from the city bustle. Italian Ice is rumored to be available at our midpoint break.
