Phoenix, AZ: Valley of the Sun Chapter, South Mountain Hike with Trekking Pole Demo

We will walk a combination of trails including Kiwanas, Las Lomitas, Ranger and the National Trail. This combination of trails – in either direction – prepared Christine to walk the Camino Frances from St Jean Pied de Port in 2024. You will gain a lot of elevation in a short distance – just like on the Camino – but it makes for great training and confidence and offers beautiful 360 degree views of the Valley. While the climb is steep and steady we will take our time.

We will meet at the Ranger Parking Lot (not to be confused with the Ranger Station/bathroom stop near the entrance to the South Mountain Preserve).
