Meet: Pima/Dynamite Trailhead, meet at the map by the bathrooms. There is water and restrooms at the trailhead. Directions: 28777 N. Pima Rd, Scottsdale. From 101 go North on Pima Rd past Dynamite Rd. Entrance to the parking lot is on the east side of Pima .25 miles north of Dynamite.
Easy ~3 mile hike in the beautiful Scottsdale Sonoran Preserve to see a rare crested cactus. (Elevation gain minimal) Have you seen a crested cactus? Meet at the pedestrian bridge next to Wingfield Park at the intersection of West 1st Street and Stevenson Street. There is a large metal artwork of a butterfly at this location. There is limited free parking on the south side next to Barbara Bennett Park. The north side of 1st Street also has some parking places, but they are metered.
We will walk west along the Truckee River on Riverside Drive, to Idlewild Park and return to start point at the butterfly artwork. This is an easy social walk.
