New York, NY: NYC Chapter, Bayside Queens Caminito

Join NYC pilgrims for the Bayside Queens Caminito on Saturday, December 2!

This walk will start and end in Bayside Queens at the Bayside Long Island RR station (LIRR). Pilgrims leaving from NY Penn Station can meet at 11:05 for a 11:17 departure in front of the ticket office in the old but renovated Penn Station, NOT Moynihan Hall. LIRR riders should buy a CityTicket for travel within New York City. Drivers and those traveling by other means should plan to meet the group arriving at the Bayside station at 11:47. The walk is 5 to 6 miles and will take 4 to 4.5 hours. We will walk through 2 parks, a greenway and the streets of Bayside, with Views of Little Neck Bay and Long Island Sound. We will also visit the newly reopened Alley Pond Environmental Center. Drivers should find parking in the streets near the Bayside station. After the hike there is an optional early dinner at 4pm at Sangarita’s, a Spanish/Latin American restaurant. Please wear boots as it may be muddy on some dirt trails. Bring water/drinks and snacks and please eat breakfast before we meet. However we will stop to shop for snacks and drinks along the way and there also will be bathroom breaks, but no long lunch stop. As always, folks taking the NYC subway to the Long Island Railroad are advised to check for weekend service changes.
