Minneapolis MN: Minnesota Chapter, Annual Spring Potluck and Shell Ceremony
Our Spring Gathering is for all Chapter members. Future pilgrims will have an opportunity to informally talk with veteran pilgrims about tips, guidance and lessons learned. And it’s more than simply sharing information. Seeing veterans light up as they joyfully share their Camino experiences is a gift to both those going and those who’ve been. The Shell Ceremony is one of our Chapter’s signature events.
“Since before the Middle Ages, the Scallop Shell has been a symbol of those who walk the Camino de Santiago. It signified that the person was on a pilgrimage and should be treated with respect and care. It was also worn by pilgrims as proof they had completed their pilgrimage.” Now, it is common to see it hanging on backpacks all along the Camino. We will recognize Pilgrims going on Camino in 2025 by presenting them with a Camino Shell to adorn their backpack. It represents the individual’s commitment to undertake the transformative journey that is the Camino de Santiago. If you would like to receive a Camino Shell, please indicate that in your RSVP.
