We will start on the Tahoe Rim Trail (TRT) headed East toward Brockway. The first 0.5 miles is uphill (elevation gain about 200 feet) with stunning views of Lake Tahoe to the West and the Carson valley to the South. We then enter the forest with rolling hills until we reach the falls. Elevation range is 9025 – 9180 for these two miles. The base of the falls is at elevation 9035 feet at 2.4 miles. Here we can decide to follow the TRT up over the falls to Relay Peak Road [Fire Road 51] (loop would be about 6 miles) or continue on the Mt Rose trail for about 0.3 miles, turn left at a signpost and loop up to a meadow above the falls (this loop is about 6.5 miles total). The meadows below and above the falls could offer gorgeous wildflower blooms for photos. Peak elevation is 9400 feet as we make the circle around Tamarack Peak (el 9897). The return trip along Relay Peak Road will offer views of Incline Lake and Lake Tahoe as we descend. Bring snacks or lunch and plenty of water
