The Camino de Santiago is a network of pilgrims’ ways or pilgrimages leading to the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia in northwestern Spain, where tradition holds the remains of the apostle James are buried. There are several routes, but the two most popular are the Camino Francés (the French Way) about 500 miles long, and the Camino del Norte (the North Way) which follows the coast and is about 530 miles.
Over 200,000 people from all over the world attempt the pilgrimage each year. It is famous for its history, beauty, and friendships made along the route. Many pilgrims, both religious and secular, feel spiritually moved by the experience. Come and learn more, or share your own experience on the Camino de Santiago, with the American Pilgrims of the Camino, an organization for Americans who have walked the route or are interested in doing so.
