This is a 6.6 mile out and back hike along a dirt double-track service road (1,624 ft elevation gain) to the southern tower. This hike has steep grades–with an average grade of 10% and a maximum grade of 23%. This is for the fit, intermediate, well-trained hiker. This is not a hike for an un-fit hiker. There is a restroom at the trailhead. Be sure to bring lots of water, a hat, sunscreen, snacks for along the trail, rain gear and always dress in layers. You may want to consider trekking poles if balance and footing is a concern as there is loose gravel and scree. But getting to the peak is well worth the hike as there are excellent vies of Fort Collins and Horsetooth Lake at the top.
