Elmer, NJ: Philadelphia Chapter, 10-11 mile hike at Elephant Swamp Trail

We’ll hike 10-11 miles on the Elephant Swamp Trail. It’s a gravel and dirt rail trail and completely flat. The terrain is easy and the scenery is very relaxing and beautiful, passing farms, swamps, and quiet greenery

There are bathrooms at the start, finish, and mid-way.

After the hike, we’ll have lunch at Sweet Amalia Market and Kitchen, a “modern roadside farmstand offering casual take out cuisine that features fresh local harvests and celebrates our Jersey roots”. It’s a cute little spot on a farm with great sandwiches, salads, soups, french fries, mussels, and clams. They have local wine and ciders or you can BYOB.

Meeting Location & Parking – The trailhead is in a small park with little league fields. Park at the very back, near the Elephant Swamp Trail trailhead sign. My car is a white Fiat 500 with a Camino shelll sticker on the back.

The park is on Rt 40, right next to the Elmer Diner, which might be easier to plug into your GPS. Google Map link for the Elmer Diner.
