As you surely know, July 25th is St. James Feast Day and in honor of the occasion the Colorado Front Range chapter of American Pilgrims is having its Annual potluck picnic! And since it falls on a Thursday, we will celebrate 2 days later on the 27th. This year we are changing the location of the picnic to Denver’s Inspiration Point Park. This park is a Historic Landmark in the City of Denver and one can view over 200 miles of panic views of the front range Rocky Mountains from the park. It was the vision of Charles Mulford Robinson who was a journalist and later an urban planning theorist who helped popularize the City Beautiful Movement across the US. And a year later, George Kessler, a landscape architect, along with architect Henry Wright completed the park in 1910.

So we will share Camino History and stories in a historic park in Denver! And perhaps we’ll even have some Camino Trivia…so bring your Camino knowledge (and perhaps win a prize)!

We’ll not try to organize the potluck nature of the event – it’s a potluck after all – so bring whatever picnic-appropriate dish you’d like to share with others. And bring some portable picnic/lawn chairs as well for you to sit on. (We do have the Shelter reserved in case of inclement weather, and there are extra picnic tables.) We’ll provide water, paper plates and plastic utensils. If you’d like something else for a beverage other than water, fell free to bring it…but note: No glass bottles or containers are allowed….
Park rules: Glass bottles and containers are prohibited. Beer and wine are the only alcoholic beverage allowed in the parks and must be in cans. American Pilgrims’ insurance policy prohibits the presence of dogs at events. (Obviously exempting certified service animals.)
And, we’ll have a Shell ceremony and Blessing for 1st time pilgrims definitely walking/cycling the Camino in 2024 at the Overlook!
