Collinsville, IL: St. Louis Chapter, Cahokia Mounds Hike and Old Herald Lunch​

HIKE DESCRIPTION
Join us for a group hike as we walk a 5.7-mile route along paths on the campus of Cahokia Mounds World Heritage Site. The route is generally flat and easy, with steps up the mounds.

We will plan to meet in the large parking lot just past the Interpretive Center.

The Interpretive Center (Museum) and Gift Shop is closed for major renovations. A water fountain is located in the Monks Mound parking lot. The only restrooms are portable restrooms located in the Monks Mound parking lot.

LOCATION INFO
The remains of the most sophisticated prehistoric native civilization north of Mexico are preserved at Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site. Within the 2,200-acre tract, located a few miles west of Collinsville, Illinois, lie the archaeological remnants of the central section of the ancient settlement that is today known as Cahokia.

OLD HERALD LUNCH
Following the hike, we will gather for lunch and social time where you can continue to enjoy time with fellow pilgrims and ask your Camino/pilgrimage questions. We will head to nearby Old Herald Brewery & Distillery (115 E Clay St, Collinsville, IL 62234). Pilgrims joining us for lunch can order food and beverages off the menu and are responsible for their own tabs.
