Thursday noon update: The trail is snow-packed and it's going to be chilly (likely upper 30s at the start) and the hike is on! Looks like it should be simply beautiful. If you have gaiters you should bring them. And warm boots will be needed. The hike leader will be Jim Stinson - mobile 720-298-1775‬. Jim recorded a very short video clip if you'd like to see what it looks like.

The Chapter is headed south to Dawson Butte Ranch Open Space south of Castle Rock for #OptOutside Black Friday!

This lovely little hike of about 5 miles is located about half way between Castle Rock and Larkspur on the west side of I-25. A GPS address of 1923 Tomah Road, Castle Rock will get you to within about ¼ mile of the trailhead parking lot. Just continue around the bend on Tomah Road and the trailhead is the parking lot on the right/west. Parking in the trailhead lot is free. The trail follows gently rolling terrain through mostly forested areas with open meadows and views of the Colorado Front Range with an elevation gain (and loss) is a bit less than 400 ft.

Afterward we’re going to suggest recuperating at the Rockyard Brewing Company back up the road in Castle Rock (880 Castleton Rd).

The hike leader will be Jim Stinson. We'll get started with introductions at 9:00 AM and then head out!

If you have definite plans to walk or cycle on the Camino for the first time later in 2019 and would like to receive a scallop shell and a blessing, just let us know through ColoradoFrontRange@americanpilgrims.org.

A reminder that American Pilgrims’ insurance policy prohibits dogs at Chapter events. Certified service animals excepted of course.

We look forward to seeing a bunch of you there!

This is a rain-snow-or-shine event — within reason! Being the end of November inclement weather will be a distinct possibility. Although not necessary, you may let us know that you’ll be with us by e-mailing to ColoradoFrontRange@americanpilgrims.org.
