Bettendorf IA: Central Iowa Chapter, May Hike in Eastern Iowa

Distance: This will be a 5-mile walk, out and back 2.5 miles (so about 2.5 – 3 hours including a break in the middle). Those wishing to do a little less can turn around and head back at any time – whenever they want.

Walk Description: We will walk along the Riverfront Trail, an asphalt multi-purpose trail directly adjacent the Mississippi River, with great sights along the way. We will start in Bettendorf near the Isle Casino and head to the village of East Davenport (mid-point), where we will stop at Lagomarsino’s Confectionary (a Quad Cities Local landmark, http://www.lagomarcinos.com) for a ‘sweet’ break or a “Pilgrim’s Second Breakfast.” Then will head back along the same route returning to the start point. At the end, those wishing a “bonus mile” can walk out to “The Oculus” lookout point over the river, mid-point out on the Mississippi river bridge walkway. If sunny, bring a hat and sunscreen, as there is very little overhead cover.
