Bethany Beach, DE: DelMarVa Chapter, Indian River Bridge & Burton Island Hike

Hike 4.5 miles roundtrip over/back the Indian River Bridge and explore Burton Island. The views of the ocean and bay from the bridge are spectacular but it can be windy and chilly. Please dress warmly. Burton Island is located in the middle of the Rehoboth and Indian River Bays and is connected to the mainland via a hiking trail. It is a mix of a maritime forest and low-lying salt marsh. It has a mix of sand and hard surfaces. It is a quiet place that is best experienced in the colder months. We will meet at the South Inlet parking lot at Delaware Seashore State Park near the Big Chill Restaurant. There are porta-potties at the start and on our walk.
