TUNNEL CANYON
BIRDHOUSE RIDGE & WEST RIDGE TRAILS
This trail is near Tijeras and is generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 2-3 hours to complete, depending on individual pace. I have walked it in 2 hours and in 4, stopping more often to appreciate nature.This is a popular area for hiking and mountain biking, so it’s better to hike on a weekday.
Length: 4.70 miles – Elevation Gain: 695 feet – Route Type: Loop
There is some shade/tree cover. Bring a hat, sunscreen, water, layers. There is no porta-potty here. Hiking poles are not necessary, but bring them if you like.
