Hendersonville NC: Charlotte Chapter, DuPont State Forest Waterfall Hike

DuPont State Forest, just outside of Hendersonville, NC, is home to four waterfalls – Bridal Veil Falls, High Falls, Triple Falls and Hooker Falls. Today’s 8-mile hike will take us past the first three. Starting from the Hooker Falls Access parking area, our first stop will be at the base of Triple Falls. The stairway to the base of the falls remains closed for maintenance, but you’ll still get a good look from the trail.

From there, we’ll continue uphill toward High Falls. There is a short side trail just before the falls that will take you to the base of the falls. There is some mild rock-hopping necessary to reach the prime viewing area, but it is fairly easily navigated. A return on this side trail will bring you back to the main trail, and we’ll continue on, passing by a full, eye-level view of High Falls.

Next stop is crossing the covered bridge above High Falls on the way to Bridal Veil Falls, about 2 miles up the road. Once we reach Bridal Veil Falls, plan on a break to sit and enjoy the scenery. If you choose, this is a great spot for a packed picnic lunch or snack.
