Indianola, IA: Central Iowa Chapter, April Hike and Shell Ceremony
Meet 9:45am, ready to hike at 10:00am
We will meet in the parking lot of Annett Nature Center and then cross the road to complete 5-6 miles at Lake Ahquabi State Park. The trails are grass & dirt. Bring water, snacks/lunch. Following the hike we will hold a shell ceremony for any first-time pilgrims who are planning a spring/summer camino. The pilgrim shell ceremony is an age-old tradition that is practiced all over the world. Pilgrims will be presented a scallop shell to wear on their backpack identifying to all they meet as fellow pilgrims. Please indicate on the registration form if you wish to receive a shell. (Note: a shell ceremony will also be held in July.)
You are welcome to bring a friend along. Unfortunately, pets are not allowed at any of our events. Following the shell ceremony and a lunch/snack break we can continue on and hike approximately 3 miles at the Annett Nature Center.
