Palencia—The Land of Fields is calling, its whispers drift on the wind. Will you answer? American Pilgrims on the Camino Cultural Committee is pleased to announce our fourth annual cultural event. This is a truly once-in-a-lifetime adventure from May 26 to June 2, 2026.

An elevated cultural experience awaits this year’s participants in Palencia. This unique event will give each step deeper meaning. Born from a seven-month partnership between the Asociación de Amigos del Camino de Palencia and American Pilgrims on the Camino Cultural Committee, this curated cultural event is designed to introduce pilgrims to the region's most profound cultural treasures. Participants will step off the Camino and journey beyond the typical pilgrimage experience, unlocking the hidden wonders of this storied region. They will immerse themselves in the authentic history, time-honored traditions, and legendary gastronomy that define Palencia’s soul.

This year’s cultural event is more than a walk; it is an invitation to see the extraordinary side of the Camino Francés that most pilgrims never see. Join us for a week where every mile reveals a new layer of Palencia’s Roman times, its importance as a Visigothic capital, and its connection to the world’s most famous pilgrimage route. Palencia, its whispers drift on the wind. Each day following breakfast, we'll visit different towns, enjoy moderate walks on varied sections of the Camino, visit historic and religious sites, and sample the traditional foods and the region's exceptional wines. Registration includes daily breakfast and lunch, aperitifs, entrance fees, and daily transportation via executive motorcoach.

We'll base our group in Carrión de los Condes at the Hotel Real Monasterio de San Zoilo.

Important info:

• Registration per person costs $1,025 (double occupancy) or $1,200 (single occupancy, limited availability)
• You may register up to two travelers during registration, but both must be current members of American Pilgrims on the Camino
• You must be at least 21 years old by May 15, 2026
• You must have a valid passport with an expiration date after December 15, 2026 (at least 6 months after the end of the trip)
• Space is limited to 34 participants
• Registration closes on March 8, 2026. We expect this trip to sell out quickly.

What's NOT included in the package: airline, bus and/or train tickets to/from Carrión de los Condes, evening dinners, travel and health insurance, and incidentals.

If you have a roommate, provide that person's name during registration. If you do not have a roommate, a same-sex roommate will be assigned.

We recognize you may have dietary needs/restrictions. Please indicate your specific needs on the registration form. Our Spanish hosts will attempt to accommodate dietary needs, but we cannot guarantee such needs will be met. 

Cancellation Policy:  Registration and payment must be made no later than March 8, 2026. Cancellations made before May 1, 2026, will receive a full refund minus a $200 fee, provided American Pilgrims on the Camino confirms a replacement attendee. If we are unable to identify a replacement, we cannot provide a refund. We are unable to provide any refund for cancellations made after May 1, 2026.

If the trip fills, we will use the waitlist if there are cancellations or other openings. Fill out the application completely (no payment required) and if space becomes available we will contact you.
