Join Chapter coordinator Trisha Robertston for our annual Opt Outside hike – this year at Manassas National Battlefield Park. Established in 1940, Manassas Battlefield Park preserves over 5,000 acres of Virginia countryside in memory of the American Civil War. This easy-moderate hike will follow the First Manassas Trail, starting at the east corner of the parking lot and following the loop counter clockwise passing several historic landmarks. It is a mostly level, well-groomed trail. Trail shoes are fine and hiking poles only if you prefer or want the practice. The hike should take about 2.5 hours. As always, bring water and snacks, and dress for the weather. Restrooms are available at the Henry Hill Visitor Center, if the government shutdown has ended. Although it is a National Park, there is not a parking/entrance fee. Chapter pins, patches, and stickers will be available.
Meeting Point: Manassas National Battlefield Park, Henry Hill Visitor Center. 6511 Sudley Road, Manassas, VA 20109.
Parking lot is toward the far east edge, past the building, near the canons. Look for our Camino Flag near Trisha’s vehicle.
