It’s time for our Annual High Line Canal and Fairmount Cemetery walk/hike. And how appropriate that it is on All Saint’s Day, this year!

Fairmount Cemetery is one of Denver’s most historic cemeteries, where you will see some of Denver’s and Colorado’s pioneers and founders. This was always a favorite hike for our founder, Gene McCullough.

Join Chris Petty as she shares stories about some of the “residents” in Fairmount, that are gleaned from Gene’s Fairmount notebook. We’ll walk along some of the High Line Canal that goes along some tranquil parts of the city until we get to Fairmount, then detour into the cemetery.

The trail is mainly flat and essentially asphalt with some concrete areas, and in the cemetery we will have gravel/dirt roads and some uneven grassy areas to walk over as we view the headstones of the “residents”. Be sure to bring a small stone or two to lay on some special headstones, with one in memory of Gene.

If you are a new pilgrim and leaving on Camino in fall of 2025, on the sign up form, be sure to request a “mini-shell” ceremony–and we will do this at the Gazebo in Fairmount.

As always, be sure to dress for conditions and bring water, a snack, a hat and sunscreen for the hike! If you use hiking poles, you may want to bring those.

Remember, no dogs allowed, per the American Pilgrims policy.
Please be sure to sign up in case we need to change our plans due to the weather

An optional post-hike gathering will follow at the Lowry Beer Garden
