Commerce Township, Michigan: SE Michigan Chapter, Hike at the Proud Lake State Recreation Area

Our next hike will begin Saturday 9 at August 10:00 AM at Proud Lake State Recreation Area.  The Proud Lake State Recreation Area is located at 3500 North Wixom Road, Commerce Township, Michigan 48382.  We will have a yellow arrows at the park road entrance and to the parking lot.

• The entire trail is mostly level and shaded, but can be “buggy” so bring your mosquito repellant!
• The park has cement floor pit toilets. There are no water fountains so it is important to remember your water bottles!
• Also, after a rain, some lower level sections can be muddy; there are wooden boardwalks.

On the trail map, we will begin at trail post number one (#1) for about a six mile total hike that has a Figure Eight Route. There is also a shorter distance option and one of us will return at that point with whomever wishes to do so.

The park is six (6) miles north of I-96, exit 159, (3 miles southeast of Milford). Each vehicle will also need a Michigan State Park Recreation Pass (the same as Brighton Recreation Area requires).
Please NOTE: The entrance road to take is on the East side of Wixom Road, almost directly across from Garden Road. There is not a booth to purchase a pass at this entrance. Proceed to the parking area on the road beyond Park Headquarters.

DO NOT GO TO THE MAIN PARK ENTRANCE ON GLENGARY ROAD.
