LOCATION: Frank Lloyd Wright Visitor Center – 5607 County Highway C, Spring Green, WI 53588. Taliesin is the 800-acre estate, home, studios and school of Frank Lloyd Wright, that includes buildings from nearly every decade of Wright’s career from the 1890s to the 1950s. In 1976, Taliesin was designated as a National Historic Landmark. It became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2019.
PARKING: Park on the highest level of the parking lot, nearest to the woods. There are toilets and some other amenities inside the Frank Lloyd Wright Visitor Center. No state park pass is required.
WALKING: The approximate walking distance is 5 miles with spectacular views of the Taliesin Valley and buildings. Poles are optional. There are two separate 1 mile sections of woodland hiking trails. We will visit Frank Lloyd Wright’s original grave and his family chapel. The middle part of the walk is through the center of the valley with views of all of the buildings on the Taliesin estate.
TAPAS TIME: After we complete our hike by returning to the Visitor Center, we will get back in our cars and drive 2.7 miles to a small park tables and chairs in the center of the village of Spring Green, where we will celebrate with tapas and nonalcoholic beverages. And there is a wonderful bookstore / coffee shop across the street!
WHAT TO BRING: Tapas or non-alcoholic drinks to share, and a donativo if you wish to take home a Chapter Patch for your pack.
Please RSVP by Monday, May 12 if you are attending so we can have reusable name tags ready. Thank you!
