Parallel parking is available along High Drive just south of 37th Avenue. Hike leaders will be there with their trusty Honda CRV (non-descript brownish) with either the Camino banner or a bright red sweatshirt! There are bathrooms at Comstock Park at 29th Ave. and S. Lincoln Street if needed.

This is a good hike to work on hills and practice using our walking poles. We will start at the midpoint on the trail and hike about 2 miles out and 2 miles back. We can loop our journey, so we won’t traverse the same path out and back. Depending upon our speed (or lack thereof!) it should take 2 to 3 hours with a break included.

The bluff has beautiful views…. albeit some of which is Hwy. 195. We suggest sunscreen, clothing appropriate for the weather, and walking poles. Snacks and water are a must. Occasionally we have had some mighty winds coming up from below. (Exciting and dusty!) We’ll take a group break before looping back. This is a great opportunity for walking poles even though some trail sections are narrow. The poles will help going down and coming back up. Some areas are steep, and the trail can be slippery with loose gravel in places.

We walked this many times to train for our Camino and it was very helpful in getting the old legs in shape. We also walked with our full pack weight, and this helped us get an idea of what it is really like.

We will meet after the hike at The Rocket Bakery at W. 14th Ave. and S. Adams St. (1301 W 14th Avenue, Spokane).
