Janesville, WI: Southern Wisconsin Chapter, Ice Age Trail Hike

GETTING THERE: The entrance to Parkside Drive is from County Road E (N Washington St). Follow the road (at the park entrance its name switches to Riverside Park Rd) northeast (along the Rock River) to the North Pavilion/pickleball courts (about 0.4 mile).

WHAT TO EXPECT: We will hike the Ice Age Trail Devil’s Staircase and Arbor Ridge segments. This is an out and back hike — about 5 miles total. Hiking poles are recommended. The trail has beautiful scenery and some tricky inclines. This time of year there may be spring wildflowers and waterfowl. Ice Age Guidebooks says, “Hikers will traverse one of the more unique portions of the entire Ice Age Trail and may have a hard time remembering they are in the city.”

WHAT TO BRING: Hiking poles recommended. Tapas or wine to share. We will provide the plates, forks, cups, and napkins.
