Fullerton Loop Walk
Saturday November 11
Meeting Time – 7:45am
Meeting spot:
Fullerton Justice Center parking lot
1275 N Berkeley Ave
Fullerton, CA
**This parking lot is very big. We will meet in the justice center lot across the street from the back the Matiki Island BBQ in the Ralphs Shopping Center.
Please allow extra time to find the group. If you have any problems, feel free to contact
Chad Toves 805-766-8692 or Sue Skelly 949-637-8036.
Please arrive at our “meet-up” area by 7:45am; we will be starting the walk by 8:00am sharp!
This slightly above “moderate” walk is over 8 ½ miles in length and should take approximately 4 hours to complete, including rest stops.
This walk will have some inclines, so feel free to bring your walking poles. We will begin our walk on N Berkeley Ave, behind Ralph’s, and crossing Harbor Blvd to the Brea Reservoir and following the Brea Dam Trail next to the Fullerton Golf Course. Then we make our way to the “out of service” railroad tracks, crossing under Harbor Blvd that will bring us to the Juanita Cooke Greenbelt Trail and on to Laguna Lake for our first rest stop, approximately 3 ½ miles. There will be restrooms (no soap, bring your own) and water stations, like you will find on the Camino.
We then make our way to the Bud Turner Trail next to the equestrian center and crossing Euclid St to the Nora Kuttner Trail. This trail takes us to Parks Rd and then onto the Rosecrans Trail and through Virgil Gus Grissom Park to Rosecrans Ave. Here we take Rosecrans back to Euclid St and our 2nd rest stop, approximately 3 ½ miles at a local coffee shop, Coffee Code. There is also a Starbucks across the street and a Del Taco next to the Coffee Code.
After our break, we will rejoin the Bud Turner Trail on Euclid St that will take us to Hiltscher Park Trail that will reconnect us to the Juanita Cooke Greenbelt Trail and bring us back to our starting point.
There will be an optional lunch following the hike at Peter’s Gourmade Burgers (Salads, Burgers, and Sandwiches), or any other local spot peregrinos would like to patron.
Parking:
There is ample free parking, but may fill up as more hikers and cyclists show up.
Safety:
There is some incline and cyclists on the trails, so please plan accordingly.
Map:
There is a live map on AllTrails.com that you can follow. Be sure to type in “Fullerton Loop Trail” in the search bar, then click on the map with the green loop to the right side. This will show where you are exactly, and you can follow the description with our modifications to fit our walk and rest breaks. We will cover the route as a group prior to our departure.
