Phoenix, AZ, Valley of the Sun Chapter: Mountain View Park Hike

This is the 2nd hike of four and is a great opportunity to gage your preparations for the Camino this spring or simply enjoy the company of fellow pilgrims. Wear your pack and favorite gear on this moderate hike on rock and dirt path. The Charles M. Christiansen #100 trail is in the middle of the city so central to all our members. While this is the longest trail in the Phoenix Mountain Preserve, we will be walking it as an out and back and will turn around about 5 miles in. The total elevation for this hike reflects a few short and steep sections to an otherwise rolling hike.

Total distance: 9-11 miles moderate with a few short steep sections (no shade); Elevation gain: 1200 ft total

Time: 4-5 hours due to distance & snack break

BRING: Sturdy walking shoes, water (at least 2 liters), a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, money or your own snacks/lunch if desired.

Please stay home if you are sick or not feeling well. No dogs due to chapter liability. All hikes are lead by chapter volunteers and donations are appreciated to support chapter activities (ie, shell ceremonies, marketing, etc.)
