Hike Description. It is a steady uphill climb, about 3 miles, to the falls. There is an interesting variety of scenery and terrain along the way. The first mile is high desert along a steep ravine with Hunter’s Creek on you left. In the next mile we begin to see some trees as we climb up into the Mount Rose Wilderness. At mile 2 we enter a dense forest and are under the canopy of evergreens to the falls. We cross two creeks along the way. A 30-foot falls with high volume awaits us at the turnaround point. The 30-foot log may have been there for at least 10 years.
Overall Elevation Gain. 1200 feet [minimum elevation is 4950 feet; maximum elevation is 6150 feet]. Total distance is about 6 miles.
