This hike climbs the forested slopes to a ridge overlooking Malibu Creek State Park, then descends into the idyllic Malibu Creek Valley and the vast meadows. It then follows the creek to Rock Pool (used in South Pacific, Swiss Family Robinson and Tarzan) and Century Lake from where it follows Malibu Creek to the MASH Site.
About a mile from the MASH Site, the trail’s concrete bridge abruptly ends with a wooden staircase going into the creek (see pictures below), not unlike what you might find on the Camino. Here you have a choice of (1) crossing through the creek or (2) turning back to the picnic area with one of our leaders.
After the hike, we’ll have a picnic in the picnic area next to the parking area.
