Total distance: 9 miles moderate (no shade)
Elevation gain: 1220 ft
Time: 5 hours due to climb, snack/lunch break and photo opps.
Hike leader: Georgy Naimoli 480-290-0354
The hike will depart from the First Water Trailhead, walking counter clockwise. We will start on the Dutchman Trail to the Black Mesa Trail and then return to the Trailhead on the Second Water Trail. You will be rewarded near the half-way point with an amazing view of the back side of Weaver’s Needle. It is a trail you will want to come back to after a spring rain where you will cross the creek a number of times. The hike is rated moderate with one longer climb on the Black Mesa Trail. Trail is fairly rocky and overgrown in some areas but navigable. This is a beautiful hike that combines distance with gradual elevation gain to prepare for a camino.
