Hola NYC pilgrims! Please join us for a two-borough, multimodal Caminito (or should we say Traminito?) on Saturday, December 4, starting at 12:30. We’ll meet outside the Roosevelt Island Tramway station at East 59th Street and Second Avenue in Manhattan and take the tram together to Roosevelt Island, where we’ll stroll south to explore FDR Four Freedoms Park. We’ll use the Roosevelt Island Bridge to get to Long Island City, where we’ll walk along the Queens waterfront to Socrates Sculpture Park. Participants have many options to explore on your own from there, or take a ferry, Citibike, subway, or bus back to wherever you need to be.
Date: Saturday, December 4, 2021 (rain date: Sunday, December 5; if the weather is questionable, a message will go out to registered participants).
Start time: 12:30 p.m.
Starting point: Roosevelt Island Tramway , East 59th Street & 2nd Avenue, Manhattan
Ending point: Socrates Sculpture Park, 32-01 Vernon Blvd, Long Island City. Early outs are always possible.
Duration: around 4 miles. We anticipate finishing the walk by mid- to late afternoon.
Bring: comfortable walking shoes, layers for the weather, water, and lunch/snacks, mask and MetroCard for the tram ride, and your camera or phone for photos.
Leader: Anne Leonard
Registration in advance is required. To register, please email NewYorkCity@americanpilgrims.org before Wednesday, December 1 with your name and the number of participants in your group. This walk is limited to 15 participants. Please RSVP only if you are reasonably certain you will be able to attend. Thanks for your understanding.
