Join the San Diego Chapter’s monthly gathering for an interesting talk on labyrinths. Linda Fitts, a fellow San Diego chapter member, presented this talk several years ago at the National American Pilgrim Gathering.

“The Labyrinth as Pilgrimage Destination”

The labyrinth is an ancient sacred pattern found in many forms and in almost every religious tradition around the world. Labyrinths are used for meditation and the contemplative walk. The labyrinth is described as “sacred geometry” that can invoke rediscovery of self and purpose, transformation and healing. The labyrinth at the Cathedral of Chartres was itself a pilgrimage destination in the Middle Ages. We will explore the meaning of the labyrinth and the possibilities it presents for preparing for pilgrimage, as well as narrating our own pilgrim experiences.

Linda Fitts is a retired physician board certified in Internal Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Care. She is a Veriditas certified labyrinth educator, trained by Dr Lauren Artress, founder of Veriditas, at Chartres France in 2012. She is a veteran pilgrim of the Camino as well as Chartres and various sacred sites throughout the world. Dr Fitts brings 16 years experience with the labyrinth to her pilgrimage classes and facilitated labyrinth walks.
