It’s time for the Atlanta Chapter to return to an old favorite, Red Top Mountain! January’s hike will begin at the new Visitors’ Center, since that is the largest parking lot in the park, and we have been having great member turnouts.

Our over-6-mile hike will use a combination of the red-blazed Sweet Gum Trail and the yellow-blazed Homestead Trail. These scenic, moderate trails wind through the forest and other beautiful views along Lake Allatoona and the Etowah River. We will finish up our figure-eight hike by returning to the Visitors’ Center. Those who care to join in for more fun can head a bit over 6 miles (about the same distance as the hike, but we’re driving this time!) to downtown Cartersville for lunch at Maine Street Coastal Cuisine, 24 W. Main Street, Cartersville, GA 30120.

Remember, this is a Georgia state park and you will need to pay a $5.00 fee per vehicle if you don’t have an annual park pass.
