Join the Mid-Atlantic Chapter for a four-mile, moderate to difficult level hike at Harpers Ferry, led by chapter member, Juan Riberas. We will be taking the Maryland Heights Trail which can be steep and rocky in some places but offers the opportunity to see many aspects of Harpers Ferry NHP on one walk: spectacular scenery, geology, Civil War and transportation history.

Note: From the Maryland Heights Trail we are going to take the Overlook Cliff Trail, is a narrow, rocky descent 0.5 miles to the cliffs overlooking Harpers Ferry. This 1/2 mile portion is more difficult and strenuous. Sign up requested.

We will take the railroad bridge path to the Overlook Cliffs and back. It will take about 2.5 hours. Meet at the parking lot at 10am, located at 112 Potomac St, Harpers Ferry, WV 25425. We will begin walking at 10:30am.

Note: This is the AMTRAK station. The parking can fill fast during the weekends. Parking Alternative is the National Park Service, visitor center, and take the bus into town. Both locations have a fee of $15 per car.

For those who would like to join, we will go to Breaux Vineyards (36888 Breaux Vineyards Lane, Purcellville, VA 20132) after the hike. Bring your lunch and we will picnic on the vineyard grounds.
